Nord Lead A1R (rack) psu voltage switch ?
Hi all,
I'm french and plan to buy one A1R from another country. I'll need to switch the voltage from 115v to 230v.
Please, is there an internal switch to move or another thing I'd need to do ?
I just learnt I'd have to replace the fuse with a 125 mA but I've read nothing else...
Any suggestion ?
Thanks a lot !

Re: Nord Lead A1R (rack) psu voltage switch ?
I can't speak for the A1 rack specifically, but on my Stage 3 there was a sliding switch clearly labelled 115 and 230 (or maybe 120/240, same thing) inside that needed to be slid from one side to the other with a small screwdriver. Given that this is pretty typical for dual-mode (of the non-automatic type) power supplies, that's what I'd expect you to find in the A1R as well. Certainly changing the fuse is not the only thing you need to do.

Thank you 23skidoo, I knew changing the fuse would be not the only thing I need to do, and also inside some Nord synths the 115v/230v switch is present, but I would have need to know if it's the same specificely on the Nord Lead A1R...

Hi martingall,
this is only a user forum. There are probably not so many other users who still have a Lead A1-rack. I'm not sure you'll get an answer.
You certainly need a possiblity to adapt the voltage of the unit or you will blow it while you connect it to power. Either you can do that internally (which we don't know and which would imply to change the fuse) or you find a power converter/transformator from 230 to 115 V - then you wouldn't have to change the fuse.

I think the Lead A1 are so new that it have switch. I found this on a quick google search, and it seems like it was only the older models that needed some soldering or a stepdown transformer.

Err, why not just open it up and look for a switch, then?martingall wrote:Thank you 23skidoo, I knew changing the fuse would be not the only thing I need to do, and also inside some Nord synths the 115v/230v switch is present, but I would have need to know if it's the same specificely on the Nord Lead A1R...

Well, if he only wants to get one, but doesn't have one yet?

Get it, then open it up? Worst case there's no switch and you get a transformer. But, all evidence points to the switch being most likely. Seriously, if whether or not to get a transformer is preventing purchase, something's wrong, IMO.
