Nord Piano 5 action noise after releasing key
Nord Piano 5 action noise after releasing key
I own a Nord Piano 5 since 4 days and I am not sure if the action is faulty. There is an unexpected noise when releasing some keys. Quite annoying when I play at home, which is my main use. Here is a short demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/e5EOtZjtSRA
Is this normal? I find it odd that some keys have a normal noise level, while other keys have this cracking/clicking noise when the key returns to its initial position.

Thanks for your feedback. I will return it. But now I am unsure if I should just replace it with another Piano 5 or reconsider my decision. When about 30% of the keys have such a defect, there doesn't seem to be anything like quality control for the action. Maybe take the Nord Grand or a completely different piano. Or postpone the investment and see what the market has to offer in 1 or 2 years. I am not really enthusiastic about any available instrument.

Its true that many faulty keyboards coming lately boxed brand new.. but believe me as often we see that with nord the same happen with other brands too.. i am a bit of a dealer and selling instruments , speakers, microphones etc.. i see very often this things happening..Jazzrock wrote:Thanks for your feedback. The good thing is that there is a warranty so you can always return and take back a brand new one..
Check my small video about the kawai keybed of nord grand
This space and no tight key is coming also with kawai mp7 which has the same keybed so it means its something normal.. even though it didnt make me feel safe if it will be ok after years… but we have to live with that because the whole market became like that. And my last decision was that i buy it and if warranty expire and then have issues with keys i will try to fix them my self and i will learn also how to do it..
The best of all for nords is that this forum has many people who tryed for first time to fix their keyboards and they posted photos step by step how they did it. This helps me understand 100% how the keybed mechanics works and This encourages me very much and making me feel safe making me feel that i can do it also.

I ordered my P5 late last year and it came with a couple of clacky keys but the replacement was fine, but it was a bit disappointing for such an expensive item.

Re: Nord Piano 5 action noise after releasing key
I just bought the P5 from Sam Ash, had to wait a week for delivery, and it also has the loud/distracting keys when they're released - all up and down the keybed, but only on the white keys, and has that clack sound exactly like the C and G keys in your video. It's pretty annoying when I just paid $3500. I guess I'll have to box it up and take it back. Bummer!

Try if possible the nord grand and you will be very satisfied compared to the fatar keybed of piano 5RobertBaker_USA wrote:I just bought the P5 from Sam Ash, had to wait a week for delivery, and it also has the loud/distracting keys when they're released - all up and down the keybed, but only on the white keys, and has that clack sound exactly like the C and G keys in your video. Re: Nord Piano 5 action noise after releasing key
M1tsos, regarding the nord grand, it's $600 more than the P5, it also doesn't have the 4 layers of the P5 and though not a big deal, the grand has 512MB while the P5 has 1GB for the synth sample section. The P5 is also lighter, which is helpful. The extra money alone is a deal breaker, since I don't have it, but paying extra for reduced functionality is also problematic.
BTW, just received a replacement P5 and the defective keybed is the same - clacking white keys all across the board. I'm taking it back for a refund, don't know what I'm going to do for a keyboard, traded in my Roland RD-800 to get the P5.
