Keys submixer suggestions
Hi all,
I'm trying to achieve a setup like this pic, stolen from the Mackie 802VLZ4 manual. The key is the ability to take a mono aux output from our main desk, so I can monitor locally with headphones and remove a wedge from our stage setup, and save my hearing. I think this would be quite a good alternative to the more expensive IEM solutions (price and number of components). At the moment I'm using two stereo keyboards, so the 802 has a couple of channels too many, but maybe it would still make sense as it's not too pricey. Right now I have a borrowed Mackie 402 VLZ4, which fits beautifully in the space to the left of my E5. I think I could achieve the same thing by using its tape ins to take the aux signal. I like the look of the Key Largo, but as far as I can tell there's no way to take a monitor signal in without sending it out. Any advice on a compact mixer that will allow me to achieve this setup would be much appreciated.

Re: Keys submixer suggestions
My simple solution was to get a $25 Behringer Micromon MA400 headphone amp/mixer. The TRS input on the MA400 gets a stereo feed from my Key Largo's Effects Send or Monitor Outs, and the XLR input gets the mono feed from the Aux on the Main Board (which gets sent to both ears). The Main Outs from the Key Largo go to the Main Board. I can adjust the levels from each input.

Re: Keys submixer suggestions
dj, I had a look at the Ashly specs, but I can't see how I could achieve inputting an aux signal from the main desk, and routing that to the Ashly's headphone output, without sending it to the Ashly's main outs. Is it doable?DJKeys wrote:I would recommend the Ashly LX-308B

Re: Keys submixer suggestions
Here are is a list of options that will do what your asking.
All of these mixers have multiple inputs, and AUX/FX sends that can be used to feed your monitor mix.

Re: Keys submixer suggestions
Thanks very much cgrafx. Those Behringer Xenyx mixers seem pretty cheap for the amount of functionality. This guy for $110 has 10 Channels + Aux + effects + USB interface. That's a big list. Does anyone have any comments to the quality of these Xenyx devices?

Re: Keys submixer suggestions
I own several Behringer products (including mixers), no problems with quality so far.
I think I have gear issues ....

Re: Keys submixer suggestions
Not sure you get the same sound from your Xenit compared to the Radial KeyLargo though...
