Hey folks,

I did a factory restore on my Electro 5 the other day and now I can't remember how I had the MIDI set up with my Kawai VPC1. The VPC and Electro each have their own sustain pedals connected... Before the restore they controlled (sustained) the split instruments independently in Upper Receive mode. The pedal connected to the nord now sustains both upper and lower parts instead of just the "lower" part...the pedal attached to the vpc controls only the upper part as it should.

The VPC is connected directly to the E5 with a MIDI cable and transmits on ch. 2. E5 settings are:
Local ON
Global Ch 1
Lower Rcv 1
Upper Rcv 2
Upper Split 2
Control Change Send/Receive
Program Change Send/Receive
Transpose at MIDI in

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Is the kb split setting on, and kb split point set to midi upper receive?

Yes to both.

I figured it out... The SUSTPED control on the lower part has to be turned off.
