Keyboard amp for the Nord Electro 3

Postby Tsetso » 15 Nov 2010, 17:02

Hello there,
Do you know which keyboard amp would be good for the Nord Electro 3? For example the "EPiano 1 MkI, Low Deep"- sound has a very strong low end and if you connect the keyboard to some keyboard amps they will not handle the low frequencies (lets say Roland CM-30). Other Hi-Fi speakers also don't have the ability to reproduce that sound with quality . I am looking for something to play at home but also something that I can use for small gigs or as a monitor speaker on stage. If you have any experience with the keyboard amps and the Electro 3 please give me some ideas?
Thanks

I use the Traynor Keymaster K4. It has three amps and 5 speakers. Has enough power for small clubs and has xlr line out for PA and also a separate input so it can be used as a monitor. Not too bad to lug around either. I really like it.

i guess the roland series is quite good, i use the kc 550 but i would always recommend a pa, as keyboard amps will alway add frequences at a certain volume that sound crap. pa's stay flat. but you will have to try and find your favourite solution.

I just recently bought a Motion Sound KP-500SN and already had the chance to rehearse and gig with it. It's fantastic! Got all the low end you could ever need! It might be a little too powerful for what you have in mind so maybe check out the KP-200. Funny thing is, the 500 is lighter because they use neodymium speakers. I never heard the KP-100 so I can't say anything about it. I heard it lacks the low end of it's bigger brothers.

i have been through a Traynor K4, Roland KC300, and JBl EON 2nd gen. before settling on the EON. the 15" sounds great
with the organ and piano and i always have plenty of headroom. the KC300 runs a close second and for its size and weight
packs a great punch.

this is with my Electro 2, which is regarded as having lower output level than the 3.

am saving my lunch money for a QSC K12. have heard nothing but great things about it.

BTW, when stage space and my back(!) allow, use a vintage Leslie 860 with a Speakeasy tune preamp.. an underrated little
screamer.
