Nord Lead A1 or Lead 4 for Pads+Leads

This is the right place if your topic concerns different Nord Keyboards, you are not sure which one is the right one for you, etc.

Nord Lead A1 or Lead 4 for Pads+Leads

Post by Alexiskeys91 »

Guys hello!I know that there are a lot of topics about the difference of Lead A1 and Lead 4 and which one to get , but i wanted to make a question so i can decide which one to buy.

I've heard a lot of demos of Nord A1 and i can see that there are beatiful pads etc on this synth. But i haven't heard any lead sounds like the Nord lead 2x has. I play funk music so i want lead sounds but i love pads too for some atmospheric parts. So the main sounds that i want , are Leads+Pads.

Do you think Nord lead A1 is fine for my purpose?

Thank you in advance!

Hi musician here, not programmer. Well the reason I bought the A1 was because it was advertised as a "vintage " synth expecting to find it preloaded with great pads and lead sounds from the 70s and 80s. Unfortunately the swedish engineers who programmed it decided to preload it with all sorts of useless sounds to make it a rather expensive electronic whoopee cushion. Thanks to some programming members of this forum (in particular Puukka) we now finally have some decent pads and leads to load onto the A1 so the machine can now live up to the claim the marketing guys made at launch.

Depends what kind of music you make I guess. It seems the 4 is more for "modern" music, whatever that may mean. Best is go to a shop and try it out but you may not find the sounds you seek preloaded for the reason I mentioned above.

Thanks for mentioning me, I´ve just posted all my patches for dwnload.
http://www.norduserforum.com/nord-lead- ... 13860.html

I´ve also the demand for lead sounds suiting my Fusion Jazz compositions and you might find some there.
The A1 is a very versatile synth, I´ve edited several lead sounds at the Minilogue first, which I thought, they might be "real analog" sounds, but I could edit them at the A1 sounding as well.

So regarding "analog" pads, lead sounds, bass sounds the A1 is great.
Regarding complex FX, soundscape or arpeggiators I prefer my Omnisphere 2.
Don´t expect serious pianos or e-pianos, you´d need samples, as Electro or Stage have.

Kind regards,
Herbert
