Question On Sound Transfer

Post by jeddy3 »

Hi Guys,

I've created a sample using various WAVs. I have mapped them to specific keys using the Sound Editor. When I save the project it gives me one specific file extension to save it, *.nwiproj

Okay, then I go to the Manager Tab, highlight a free space in the Sample list, hit the Sound Down button, and it only allows me to search for files with the extension *.nsmp

So the question: How do I get my sample onto my Nord Electro 5.

Many Thanks,

Steve

Isn't there a "generate/download" button on the top right of the screen? of the Sample Editor?

Thank You Mr G, found that, but alas when it downloads, the WAVs are short and distant. If I disable the reverb switch, they disappear altogether.

Edit: Sorted the shortness, but the WAVs still sound like it's in a cavern and fairly quiet. Also still losing the WAVs altogether if I disable Reverb....weird

Maybe you recorded the samples and they suffer from phase cancellation? If you sampled stereo, the channels have to be completely panned in opposite. Worth checking...

If you are preparing your samples in Audacity, after recording you can "normalise" the track, so it maximises the volume. You can increase the volume afterwards too in the Sample editor (I think it is the last page, where you can adjust the individual or global gain of the samples.

AND! also make sure that you initialise your synth section otherwise the previous settings of the synth might be interfering with the sound (remember that the nsmp file is just the "oscillator", you have also the filter and modulation & EG to take care of in the synth section.

Do the regular piano sounds work normally?

If yes, you have phase-inverted one channel of the sample. Either during recording or afterwards.

If the piano sounds are weird and thin as well and almost silent when you switch off the reverb, then the adapter you are using for the headphone output is crap, with one channel inverted and both shorted together. This is normal for the cheap Chinese crap adapters - there are probably hundreds of thousands of these defective ones out there.

I think it must be the phase inversion thing (have to admit, I don't know what that means or what I can do about it).

The headphones and piano sounds are fine.

Don't think I can re-sample the WAVs, they were sent to me by a friend, I have a feeling they were ripped from YouTube.
