Mono --> stereo jacks. Mono summing?
Need some help here guys.....
I often use twin mono to single stereo jack leads out of my Stage 2 https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Cables-Leads ... B00A4BK3WK
This is fine going into my mac, or home speakers via an interface and usually fine going straight in to the desk live (with or without a DI box) but occasionally I get a weird phase effect (probably the wrong term) or what sounds like a massive reverb on certain patches. I've tried to read up on this and have come across "mono summing" (which I don't entirely understand TBH). I think this is something to do with how some samples/patches are panned. I've tried using the "mono output" on the Stage 2 and this resulted in no output whatsoever.
Is there a solution to this? Do most people just use 2 x mono jacks and just take up an extra input on the desk?
Any helps greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Thom

Hi, just an idea; maybe your jack is used in the wrong way ? That i see on the amazon link is to split a stereo jack into 2 mono output.

Ahhhhh! So I'm using a lead that splits stereo, not sums 2 monos! Duh.
That makes a lot of sense, thanks Phil.

Exactly or 2xmono jacks to L/R of a stereo channel on the desk, never (!) use Y cables to merge signals (unless you are 100% sure you have a stereo in on the other side) only to split them.thomrowlands wrote: Do most people just use 2 x mono jacks and just take up an extra input on the desk

Instead of merging two signals into one, what about using the "Mono" button?
And you should not use Y cables to merge audio. http://www.rane.com/note109.html
