Nord drum 2 waveforms

Post by cyberpunx »

hi there :)

nord drum 2 has its waforms grouped in different groups and i know the differences between the groups. but what is the differents between the different waves WITHIN these groups? some i think differ in pitch and others in tone/charachter, but im not really sure, so would love to have someone explain that forme. for example so you know what i mean: difference in tthe drum heads group between waves d1 to d9.

its the waves within the following groups that im interested in:

Ring mod
oscillators
(r1 och r2)

FM algorithms (f1-f6)

Harmonic
resonance
modelling
. (h1-h7)

Resonance
modelling of
tuned percussion:
marimba,
vibraphone etc.
(p1-p4)

Drum head resonance
modelling
(d1-d9)

cymbals (c1-c9)

thanx in advance :D

Hi!

They sound different, so I'd say it's in the harmonics. ok, not a really helpful answer I know..
The manual lists the different synthesis models and how the Spectra parameter changes the sound for each.
But apart from the designers, I don't think anyone knows what the technical differences between e.g. the drum head models exactly are. You could do a spectral analysis of the sounds in a recording. The best way to find out how you can actually use them would be to experiment a lot, explore the range of sounds you can get with the Spectra parameter etc.

Cheers,
Albert
