Piano editing

Post by iamdave »

Hello all. Nord newbie here. Loving my electro hp. Anyhow, was wondering how and if you can tweak the piano sounds.

- if edit eq is it saved?

- not sure what it's called, but on some piano samples I've heard when you hammer a key pretty hard you get this almost overdriven sound or tingy thing that I like at times. How would I achieve that in editing? Sorry I can't be more descriptive.

- Any input on basic editing functions on a patch especially piano that can be done on the nord?

Thanks in advance for your time,
Dave

Without a direct example of what you're referring to, I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest you try the compressor (on the Electro 5, in Amp/comp the "Comp" setting) and turn it up way too high.

This will give a piano an artificial-sounding attack and unnatural decay that *may* be what you're looking for.

Yes, eq settings are saved with every program (assuming eq is enabled).

I just recently created a bunch of acoustic piano programs eq'ed specifically for an amp I have, the CPS ssv.3. Different set of patches for playing through a bigger FOH PA system.

Beyond that you can have different piano programs with different reverb settings, chorus, delay, you name it, -not to mention different pianos as sources for the samples- whatever serves the music you're playing. The Nord is perfectly set up for experimentation.
