Connect C2D to a Leslie 147?

Post by humvee »

Hi!
I'm about to become the owner of a Leslie 147 and since I've played the C2D for a while it's going to be fun to hook them up together. To my understanding you'll need an adapter for the 11-pin connection, like the 1147 Leslie Connector. But it's not cheap! So my question is if there's another way to connect to the 147? Anyone who knows?

Cheers!

If you're handy with some DIY skills, contact Bob Rinker - http://www2.cs.uidaho.edu/~rinker/ and tell him Erik Bowen sent you his way. The 147 I believe is the same as the 145, which I've seen his personal 145 that's wired up for use with an 11-pin modern keyboard. Otherwise, the 1147 Leslie Connector might just be your only other option, as 6-pin Leslie's get their power from the organ. This isn't up to code anymore, so the 11-pin from the back of the C2D doesn't (or anything with 11-pin for that matter) provide AC power for the Leslie to operate.

A preamp box, such as Trek II UC-1a http://retrorentals.net/wp-content/uplo ... -UC-1A.jpg , or Leslie Combo Preamp http://www.captain-foldback.com/Leslie_ ... eamp_3.jpg are your other options for connectivity. Personally I do use the 1147 Trek II kit adaptor.

The Trek II UC-1A is a sure fire way to go. That's a Leslie pre-amp unit that provides for a number of Leslie model hook-ups. 122, 147, etc. Has Hi and Lo input jacks, level and tone controls, and a foot switch for Leslie speed. They're built like tanks. I know Mike Smokowitz (owner/founder) of Trek II, and will tell you, he's the real deal - knowledge and quality wise. http://trekii.com/uc-1a-pedal-110v.html . They're a little pricey, but you can sometimes find them for sale used.
