Nord newbie questions

Post by emelenjr »

Hi, all. I'm happy to have found this forum so I can get the most out of my Electro 4. I am upgrading from a Korg SV-1, so I'm excited about the possibilities of having so many more options.

I searched the forum and wasn't able to find much that could answer these questions. Many thanks for helping me translate from Korg-speak to Nord-speak!

1. The display is confusing me. If I press Program button 4 and scroll down to the 15th sound, the display reads 15.4, not 4.15.

2. My confusion about the display might explain my confusion about using Sound Manager. The way the documentation is written, it seens they're saying the keyboard featured 32 different pages of four sounds each, which is weird to me. Wouldn't it be more practical to organize the sounds in four pages of 32 sounds each?

3. Am I correct in saying Sound Manager's interface leaves a lot to be desired? It doesn't correspond to the features of my keyboard very well. There aren't any buttons in the app that correspond to Program 1 through 4 on the keyboard, for example.

4. I know "sets" are a feature on the Stage pianos. Am I asking for trouble if I just think of my Electro's Program buttons as "set" buttons? With so many more preset locations to store sounds than I used to have on my Korg, I'd like to queue up two sets of sounds in the order I need them, and use Programs 3 and 4 for sounds I don't need that night and other sounds I'm tinkering with.

Other than my questions, I'm very happy with my purchase and am excited to learn from the users here. Thanks!
Gambold

Europeans. They put the day before the month too, i.e. Christmas is 25-12-2017.

It will take you FOREVER to get used to this on the Nord.

Ha! The European "day/month/year" calendar format is exactly what I thought of, too.

I'm afraid that you both have overactive imaginations... ;-)

in the NE4 manual, the first subsection in Chapter 4, Getting Started, is About the programs. The second sentence reads: "The NE4 organizes the memory in 32 pages with four programs in each page."

The display reads page:program

Ehm, 320 million Americans use Month-Day-Year, the rest of the world population uses a logical format 8-) :

More logical than either would be Year-Month-Day. With that all my file names are naturally sorted consecutively.
