Greetings from snowy New York! I had a question concerning playing the Nord through another keyboard via MIDI.
The piano sounds worked out well, but the organ (especially with rotary on) had a weird sound. It almost sounded liked a warped chorus. When I played the keys on the Nord the organ sounded fine, when I moved over to the Yamaha Montage, I heard the distorted tone. I didn't have chorus or any effects on, with the exception of the rotary. Any thoughts?

Re: MIDI Question with NE5D
Make sure you are playing Nord on the Global channel and then it will always sound just like the actual keyboard. I think there are different channels normally configured for different instruments. Have a look through you NE5D manual about properly setting the midi channels.

Re: MIDI Question with NE5D
Is there anything else involved in your midi rig? Running through a computer perhaps? Software? The symptoms you describe sound like what happens when the midi signal is doubled, causing a chorus effect.

Re: MIDI Question with NE5D
I ve no idea but I've got montage and ne5d like you and I can play montage keyboard to drive ne5d organ without any kind of problem.
Re: MIDI Question with NE5D
Thanks for the responses.. I'm playing on the Nord's Global Channel.
@Pablo... I'm not connecting to a computer, just running a single Midi cable from the Yamaha to the Nord. I noticed that the problem went away when I turned the B3+bass off. I'm not sure if this was the culprit, but seems ok now. Again, thanks for all your help. This forum rocks!
