Yes, why not, if it sounds good? I tried it because i still search for a go to piano sample for live playing. I often take only one FBT active speaker with my NE 3/73. For me this new sample sounds good in mono. I take the right output on my electro, not the left/mono output, i think the right sounds better (and no "mono" button).
That's interesting. I've always been a bit underwhelmed by the mono sounds of Nord pianos, but I've never tried taking the right output. Any idea why that might give you more of the sound you're looking for? Perhaps it prevents some phase cancellation anomalies?

Hi,
For those who like to use grands pianos, this one is a very good one.
I gess it will become one of my favorite.
The dynamic is very good and it reacts very well to the EQ. Not too bright, not too smooth.

Thanks Nord for the Christmas gift, as usual.

Very addictive, we want some more ;)

Cheers

Just loaded it into my Stage 2EX. Will take it to big band rehearsal tomorrow night and play it through my QSC K8. It sounds very nice in stereo, and I'd like to see how it stacks up in mono.

I like it! Quite warm and open through headphones (I haven't tried speakers yet).

BTW the dummy head mic technique is used as well by the Chesky jazz label. Their recordings are also optimally designed for headphones and are quite stunning IMO.

I tried the Royal Grand Large on my Electro 3. I use a single Electrovoice ZX-A1 (no stereo for me), and the Royal Grand gives me the best acoustic piano sound I have ever gotten from my Electro. The octave below middle C is more alive than the Black Upright, and the low end is satisfying in a way that far surpasses the Black Upright. And for me, the Black Upright was significantly better (in a mono setup) than any of the recent favorites (Silver Grand, Italian Grand and Bright Grand).

My son came up with these EQ settings: Bass at "1pm", Freq at 4K, Gain at +5, and Treble at "Noon". I liked the result, and stored that into the program.

I have not yet been able to tell if it is better to use the L out with mono off, R out with mono off, or mono on.

Hah we say that every time. But the Italian is proving pretty hard to top.

Yes, another Yamaha. This time with even more wider stereo field, and a bigger sound in total experience. Just what I want. It sounds very good in my Genelec system. And yes, I think it will become one of my favorite. The Italian Grand is one of my favorites too, but in another shape. We have a huge collection of well sounding premium pianos to choose from, and for me and my needs the Royal Grand is on top right now. Well done Nord engineers!!
Regards Stefan.

I run both outputs into my QSC and keep mono off. I'm not hearing any phase issue, and the resulting sound is overall fuller and stronger than running out of one channel only.
