Rhodes Help

Post by Obijuan »

Please, could somebody share with me the best EQ and FX configuration to achieve a best quality Rhodes sound?

At this moment I find EP1 (MkI, Low Deep), EP5 (Suitcase Bright tines) and EP8 (Nefertiti MKI) the most suitable pianos for the music style I play (Funk and acid jazz)

Thanks in advance!

Just try out with different settings of EQ, ampsims and FX. I take Twin amp and crank the highs for Nefertiti Rhodes. For acid jazz i think you need phaser or tremolo occasionally.

The best for what kind of use?
It's too obscure... Funk... Maybe the latest sample, the nefertiti is suitable, with a bit of a twin overdrive and somewhat of a mid-high boost, but it's subjective.

Better, find a rhodes tune you like and try to reach the sound of the rhodes by choosing the right sample and by using the fx/eq/amps section and your ears!
Learn to trust yourself and the recordings you like. It is much better than any "advice". ;)

Word.

Rhodes pianos are so different from one another, and the methods used to amp and record them vary so tremendously, that your idea of a perfect Rhodes might be vastly different from mine (and honestly, mine depends a lot on what I'm playing).

If you've got an idealized Rhodes sound in your head, go through the different pianos and find the one that's closest to what you're looking for off the bat.

Then, if you need more "crunch", add an amp and distortion. Add some high EQ if you need more "bite".

If you need more bell, add just high EQ, maybe use the JC amp simulation for that milder, amplified Jazz Chorus sound.

If you need more Ooomph, add some bass or take away some of the highs.

Hi Obijuan,

try

and

http://www.norduserforum.com/download/file.php?id=1485

and

http://www.norduserforum.com/nord-elect ... 10460.html

Of course, you have to layer them with Nefertiti in E5.

Best Regards + Have Fun!
