Has anyone cancelled their NP3 order because of the ivory touch issue? I must admit I contemplated it but have decided to continue. I know they're using the fatar tp40H so hopefully it will be better than the not so good action on the NP2 which I have grown to love purely on sounds not feel. All else fails sell the NP3 and keep the 2!

Re: No ivory touch for the NP3
Sorry to cross-post, but am thinking the subject calls for it...
Some are disappointed that the ivory touch feature did not make it through to the final product release on NP3. I am among them -- the ivory touch prototype felt remarkably nice, much more dramatic than I would have imagined beforehand.
However, it is my understanding that it was discovered that there existed the potential for future issues with accumulation of dirt or discoloration. Rather than issue the product with this potential problem and then have to "face the music" later with people having problems and complaints, the decision was made to hold off on that move until a suitable solution could be found. I do not know for a fact, but suspect that this is "on ice" for the time being and will be revisited in the future.
Bless, Pablo

Re: No ivory touch for the NP3
I have a Physis piano, which (as far as I'm aware) uses the same Fatar ivory touch keyboard Nord were anticipating using. When new it was silent apart from a dull thud at fff, now after a few hours playing, the busy area has developed a 'tick' on initial contact with the keys. This phenomenon disappears over night only to return on the next heavy playing session. I suspect there is some form of felt compression going on.
Re: No ivory touch for the NP3
My friend from germany got in touch and confirmed he had the studio logic with fatar tp40w. Worked nice for about a week then a mountain of issue arose. Only one report I know but maybe they have done the right thing for now!

Re: No ivory touch for the NP3
Both Physis and the studiologic you mention (I assume is the Numa Concert) use the tp40w ("wooden") which is not what the NP3 uses (TP40 standard, no wood) and the problem seems only to be related to the Ivory Touch surface, at least according to the official Nord announcement.
Anyway it is true that other brands are using the same TP40 "non wooden" Fatar model with Ivory Touch and have not reported a generalized problem as Nord has, so far.

Re: No ivory touch for the NP3
hi....
i have a P3 on order, and cannot wait for it to come in...
correct me if i'm wrong, but as the ivory touch was 'sacked'... does the P3 now have the same initial 'keys' as the P2 did ??
cheers,
matt.

Re: No ivory touch for the NP3
I think the keys are heavier on the NP3. As I understand it the NP3 has TP40H (heavy) and NP2 has TP40M (medium) but I'm not sure.

Re: No ivory touch for the NP3
I have had the NP3 one week now and I really like it. I ordered it without testing it which felt a little bit crazy but I don't regret it .. I have tested Yamaha CP4, Roland RD-800 and Nord Piano 2 before and thought the action was better on the CP4 and the RD-800 piano but I loved the piano sound on the Nord. The action feels better on the NP3 than the NP2 but I'm not sure how it is compared to the CP4 or the RD-800. The ivory touch on the RD-800 and the wooden keys on the CP4 was nice but I don't think it makes a big difference...

Re: No ivory touch for the NP3
thanks for your replies, 'preciate it !
well, i ordered it without playing it as well... i went to check out all available stage piano's & fell in love with the P2... but as the P3 was going to come out in a few months i decided to just wait for that one
this is my first time ever playing a piano-like keybed.. after years and years of playing only 90's synths
i sold every single one to go for this rather pricey one !
i was going for the RD-800 but i didn't like the way it's built (cheap plastic and made in asia)... the P2 is sturdy, nice looking and well... made in Sweden also, the P2 sounds WAY better and i like the simplicity of the knobs and sliders...
