Using Sound Manager

Post by sgcustom02 »

For the first time this morning I used the SM software along with the downloaded manual.

I decided to replace aka "substitute' (at Sample Lib Location 19) "GodwinSymphony_Viola_BR mono 2.0" (which was marked Unused) with "ARP Quadra Str 8__BR mono 2.0".

After the operation the ARP shows up as Unused as well.

When I scroll on the Electro 5D, I can't find the ARP

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong?

That's correct, because it isn't used by any program at this moment. You first have to create a (new) program with that specific sample and save it.

Are you looking in the program list or in the sample list? You should be able to see the sample in the sample list (not in the program list, because you don't have any program made yet).

I'm assuming that I cannot see the sample on the Nord itself?

Yes, you can see the sample, both on the Nord's display and in Sound Manager by clicking on the SAMP LIB tab.

Bart's (correct) point is that loading a sample into the Sample Memory Area on the instrument does not automatically cause a new program to be written which uses this newly loaded sample. Note the line number of the sample as shown in the list of samples in NSM. Dial that number in on your instrument. If you like what you hear, STORE your new program.

I'm trying to create new entries in Setlist Bank 5, which is empty.

First thing I did is upload the Italian Faz Piano to my hard drive from the Grand Piano bank. That worked.

When I try to download it from my hard drive to the Bank 5 Setlist, it's greyed out (cannot select).

I also wanted to add it to the next slot along with the Honk Tonk Piano.

Can anyone help guide me?

I've looked at the manual and also at YT videos, but no luck

Set lists have links to programs, not samples. Create a program with the new piano, then load/associate that program to the set list.
