Nord Electro 5 To Yamaha Dxr10 To Mixer setup

Post by Dazl123 »

Hi I have electro 5 connected stereo output into stereo input on yamaha dxr10 then it's linked to another dxr10 - great stereo sound all working well ☺
Next I need to take a output from the dxr10 and feed stereo out to mixer.

There is a thru connection on both speakers
Is this what I should use ???
If I connect a lead from each speaker to mixer is this what I should do ???

Thanks

If I understand you correctly you connect L and R from Nord to one DXR10 at input 2 or 3 and then link that DXR10 to the other. The TRU connection on the DXR10 is AFAIK only useful for input 1, which won't work in that case. If you're going to a mixer anyway, I'd connect the Nord there first and then the DXR10s from the mixer.

If he's talking about his personal mixer for his keyboards, then yes. If he's talking about connecting to a PA mixer, then it would be different.

If you're connecting your Nord to a FOH mixer with Mic inputs, then the best way is to use DI boxes, two mono or one stereo. Connect the outputs from your Nord to the DI box/es, then connect the Thru outputs from the DI boxes to the inputs on the DXR the same as you're doing now.
Finally connect the main (Mic) outputs from the DIs to the mixer. You would use two XLR leads for this.

I'm assuming you're using the jack inputs Inputs 2 Line (Left and Right) to connect to the DXR. If you are doing it this way, then you can't use the Thru sockets because they only work on Input 1.

Here's the setup , NORD Electro stereo l/R to left yamaha dxr 10 stereo input l/R.

Then : the left speaker is linked to the right giving stereo ( very simple ) one lead only involved

No Mixer involved or di box's

Now to output to mixer it seems I take a feed from the back of each speaker to the desk

Am I correct thanks

There is no output from the DXR10 - only a THRU from the mono input (1). That's why several other solutions were offered above.

It should be added that using the 2nd Link Out will make a DI box obsolete and gives a mono signal for main FOH mixing console. With this setup you cannot have main FOH output in stereo. For the latter, you have to use both channel 1 line inputs separately and use the Through outputs. Possible but too many cables for me and overkill in many cases.

Arjan I took your advice I sent the nord directly to the mixer and took an AUX feed back to the speakers works well.
Don't want to end up stangled by leads ha ha.

Simple is better. ☺

YamahaDxr10 /cd2 organ.

Post by Bluesman999 »

Currently have a Dxr10 as a monitor with my electro 5 using a DI box taking a mono signal to FOH desk and the DI box thru link to the DXR in monitor mode. Thinking of investing in a C2D organ and a simple gigging piano. Want to run the organ in stereo to FOH and piano in mono to FOH (via DI boxes) then use the thru links from the DI boxes to the DXR to monitor sound from both instruments in mono. How can Ido this?

Sorry to hijack this thread a little.... BUT ... does this mean I can use my dxr10 similar to a DI box? E.g. I plug L/R output from Nord into the L/R (jack) input on the DXR (to use as a stage monitor); then use it in Mono mode and take the XLR Link out straight to my FOH mixer? Hence giving me a mono balanced signal to the desk.
Is it Mic level signal from the Link output? Is it independent of (not changed by) the volume controls on the DXR?
Is that correct? I can't make sense of the Link diagram on the back of the DXR :-)
