Re: Nord Beat tutorial
Hi Hans,
Welcome to the forum!
I assume you know how to connect your MIDI interface to your iPad, directly, or through the camera connection kits USB port, then connect the MIDI OUT of your interface to the MIDI IN of your ND2
Then make sure the NB2 app sends its MIDI signals on the same channel the ND2 is set to receive on, just follow these steps:
1) On the ND2 match the global MIDI channel [GL.XX] with the MIDI channel in the app:
- Nord Beat app: go to Menu > MIDI setup, check the MIDI channel
- ND2: press [SHIFT] + [MIDI] - a couple of times, until you see [GL.XX], then use the knob to set the value XX until it's the same as in the app
2) In the MIDI setup menu of the app: check the note numbers listed (e.g. #1: 60, #2: 62, #3: 64, etc...) -
- then on the ND2: press [SHIFT] + [MIDI] - until you see [n .XX] and match the MIDI note numbers with the ones in the app:
In this example: go to channel 1 and if required, use the knob so that you’ll see [n. 60] in the display, then go to channel 2 make sure it says : [n. 62], etc...
3) Because you won't need this functionality in combination with the app, switch the individual MIDI channels off in the MIDI menu of your Nord drum2: [Ch.OF] :- press [SHIFT] + [MIDI] - until you see [Ch .XX] select OF (off) on each of the 6 channels - ...
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Nord Beat tutorial
Hello!
I am trying to use the Nord beat app with my Nord Drum 3. I have an updated iPad. I am using an Apple USB camera adaptor and a usb-to-midi adaptor. The set up is somewhat working, but I can not trigger more than one pad at a time. Any idea?

Hi Lftomashek!
Carefully check the settings in the third step I mentioned above, only use the Global MIDI channel, not the individual MIDI channels..
If that doesn’t help, it could also be your USB-MIDI interface, what brand and type is it?
Some very cheap ones are missing a small but apparently important component, you wouldn’t be the first I’m afraid.
