I don't think that the latest CP70 and Wurly samples are only adjusted versions of the old samples. For me these are completely new samples (?)

You might be right. Not sure about the Amped Rhodes (which to me it sounds similar to one of the original samples).
Anyway, what I really meant was that reworking the existing samples would be less of a hassle than changing the hardware or the firmware.

I came from the Yamaha world where I pretty much exclusively used the one Vintage '74 patch. All the Rhodes sounds on the Nord sounded kinda ... flat ... even the "non-vanilla" presets. I moped a bit about this and then one day downloaded a few patches from this site - there were three in one thread - Chick's Rhodes, Herbie's Rhodes and Galper Rhodes. The Chick's Rhodes patch wasn't quite what I was after, it seemed to distort a bit easy, but it had so much more life and sounded much better than any of the presets. I looked at how that had been set up as a guide, and now I have adjusted that one and have quite a few different patches that to me, sound AWESOME. My basic sound would be to take EP2, put it through a twin reverb amp, add drive, roll off the bass, and adjust tops and highs. Add to that some tremolo or autopan, some stage reverb and a little bit of compression and you have a sound that is SO much better, to my ears, than what is stock.

Thanks for using my sounds! I agree the Chick Rhodes distorted a lot… too much… anyway I have made some new Rhodes sounds in the same vein… might upload them at some point when I get 5 mins. :)

I have had the Nord Stage a little under a year I guess.. tried many digital pianos and synths over the years (RD700GX, Kronos, Motif etc) and Rhodes is always a weak point…

I also own a Rhodes Mk2 and have owned 4 in the past… Rhodes is "My" instrument… just like a guitarist might consider his Les Paul his instrument… which is why I finally went over to a Vintage Vibe 73 Apple Red Sparkle (arriving in the next few weeks)… $5000 and I have no regrets whatsoever! ;)

I actually know the guy who sampled the Eps for Nord. In contrast to what Jazzy Stu said earlier in the thread… he really is a big fusion/jazz buff… I've stayed at his house and checked through his LPs… herbie, Chick, Miles, George, Masabumi Kikuchi its all there…

The problem is that Nord take the sample sessions and reduce them down leaving much to be desired in terms of tonal changes with regard to velocity. I would love a Rhodes XL sample.

For those interested (as it was mentioned earlier in the thread)…

Here are some pics of a VV64 Apple Red Sparkletop.

(Ps I am getting the 73 key which is still the same weight as a RD700GX piano!)

Can you please post some pictures of the insides of the piano? I never saw any. I'm curious about the harp, the tonebars, tines, etc. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for this - looking forward to trying them out when I get home. Congratulations on the Vintage Vibe purchase. One day, I will have one too :)
