On a NL2X is it possible to have the midi out as a midi thru ie: echo what goes in?

No, its not possible.
I did ask the same q to Clavia.se and they told me that its not possible, you (and I) have to get an "midi thru box" to work around it.

Thanks for your reply......its the same on my Yamaha Piano: where are the thru connections these days? I cant be that unusual to want to chain some keyboards together!!

I don't know if the stiff competition from software synths these days mean that manufacturers tend to cut whatever corners they can.

Traditionally though, Nord Leads have never had separate thru connectors, and neither it seems have digital pianos. My Roland ep-77 piano which is 15 years old by now doesn't have a thru connector for instance.
