I hope after you try out your new Vent ad-on you check back with a full report. Thinking about getting one but, is it really better than the Leslie simulator in the NS2? Also if you route the organ patches out thru outputs 3/4, I think your effects options are not possible to use. Good luck & let us know how it works for you. Also, are you running mono or stereo?

Reverb and compressor won't work, quite true, as they're not routed to Outputs 3 and 4, but the rest of the effects will work ok.

I used my MINIVENT for six months with a NS2.

Really the ventilator is a major upgrade to the leslie simulation of NS. I had the chance to compare the two on stage, and always ask the musicians and technicians who found friends. All were unanimous in saying that the ventilator was a much better simulation.

I used for a while the organ section on channel 3-4, synth section and piano on channel on 1 and 2.
After I started using the output 1 or 2 for organ and 3 + to 4 pianos and synths (so I used the reverb and compressor with Organ ...)

It is an upgrade and so much!

After I changed my NS2 for a C2D and not yet tested the MINIVENT with him.

I did not feel the need to use it. Indeed, simulating the C2D me sounds far superior to NS2, even without compare.

The nice thing is that it sums two stereo or mono sources.
I have been planning to build one, but since I do not really need it, I keep leaving it for another day, so I do not really know how much attenuation takes place.

I'm gonna go for the passive mixer and aim to set it up on a pedal board with the vent, sustain & DI (and maybe a 4-way extension if there's room).

So...the ventilator (II) has arrived and I've set up my pedal board. Wow! I'm really impressed with the sound of the vent. Since I ordered it from Germany I was a little concerned I'd end up settling for it regardless of whether it was a major improvement but there's no doubt, I love it. It's a keeper.

Switching from the stage 2 internal sim to the vent feels like switching from an emulation to the real thing. Although I've not played a *real* Hammond/leslie before I've been playing & listening to Hammond music for years and I can safely say I couldn't tell the difference between the vent/nord setup and the real thing. I've got the ventilator dials mostly set to 12 o'clock but with the drive turned up a little for some grit.

In the end I hooked it up to an art powermix with a separate output from the nord for synth & piano. Throw in a sustain, Fc7 expression and a DI box and the pedal board is complete. I've got the cables tied up in a sort of snake which easily tidy away into the pedal board case. I'll see how that works out over time but it makes set up and tear down ridiculously quick.

Cheers! Yeah, output 1(pianos and synths) of the nord goes into one channel of the mixer. Output 3(organs) of the nord goes into the ventilator which then goes into another channel of the mixer. The main output of the mixer goes into the DI box and I use the headphone output from the mixer to send to my monitor(via a breakout cable for mono output). I suppose I could have used the DI thru to the monitor but the art gives me a headphone/monitor volume control closer to hand. I went for the active rather than passive mixer in the end to make sure I had plenty of volume on the monitor if needed. Since everything is in the pedal board having another wall wart didn't seem to really matter.

I left a 'margin' around the inside of the case so the cables can easily coil around the pedals for transportation. Set up and tear down of the whole rig takes 5 mins max and all pedals and most cables are in one small case to carry.

The one thing I had to do (or my girlfriends dad did to be more specific!) is build up the base of the sustain pedal with some thin board so it sat level with the edge of the case. I was concerned it may be a bit high to play with my heel on the floor but no such problem.

I'm really pleased with the rig now. Just need to gig it!
