Regarding the Matrix 12, Jupiter 8, and other synth collections. Each collection offers a large handful of patches. I am wondering...Are the patches samples of the sound as created on the original instrument using it's filters, modulation etc. and the Nord is basically just a playback device? Or do the filters, amps, LFO etc. on the Nord play some role in the shaping of the sound?

On the Electro 3/4, the Nord is little more than a playback device, as you said. On the NS2, you can apply all the synth features of the Nord to the underlying sound... additional filtering, envelopes, modulation, etc.

But the 'patch' that plays back initially is a sample of filters, mods etc. as created on the original instrument, correct? And not a product of the Nord filters.

Correct. After all, the samples work on the Electro, which doesn't have all that stuff.
