My brand new C2D arrived broken ;(

Postby floydology » 19 Oct 2013, 05:28

So, every thing is split at the G3 area in this weird way: i get the upper's sound on the bottom half of the bottom keyboard, and nothing on the bottom half of the upper keyboard. Vice versa, I get the lower preset on the lower half of the upper keyboard, but nothing on the upper half of the bottom keyboard. It's as if each manual crosses paths @ the G3/G#3 point. sooo frustrated right now. I feel like someone @ the factory plugged the wrong half of each keyboard into the wrong circuit board, or something like that. I'm no technician. For $3600/$4000, I shouldn't have to deal with this.
It does this effect for all organ selections. At first, I was like: "how come I only have percussion for half of the keyboard?" nope, it's there, at the bottom half of the bottom keyboard.

Btw, everything else about this keyboard is absolutely fabulous. the drawbars are so much nicer than roland's vr-09. Everything about it is solid.

Here's hoping it's a split that isn't mentioned in the instruction manual.

V 1.04, btw.

I´ve read that one user had a unit with wiring issues. Perhaps it´s kind of this?

Thanks guys! I removed the sides and the drawbar panel, and saw the 4 ribbon cables. Yup, sure enough, I had to switch 2 of them.

Huge thanks to Pablo, first, for the knowledge, and second, for being available on a Saturday! Also thanks to mjbrands for the referral.

Sounds like the factory needs to improve their final quality inspection. Pretty sad if two sets of cables were inverted and not checked, we're not talking about a cheap chinese kids keyboard here... :wtf:

Glad to hear that you got it sorted. Seems strange that they didn't catch this when it was play tested? The Nord tour video leads you to believe that their quality control is super high. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UblYpjGm1eo

They should track who messed up with the UPC codes they use and have them personally issue you an apology! ;)

I have a funny feeling that Nord is making C2D's as fast as they possibly can! I'd wager they can hardly keep up with the demand.
