Pedal keys 27

Postby Triton456 » 14 Nov 2011, 13:09

Hi All,
Really interested in the Nord pedal keys 27, they look a lot lighter than my midi'ed A100 bass pedals.
Does anyone know what velocity level is transmitted? I guess if they were dynamic velocity sensitive it would be written in big letters on the front!
Regards Lou

Hello Triton456,
Welcome to the forums!

Hi Lou,
My US rep tells me that the Nord Pedal Keys (NPK) is not velocity sensitive and sends a fixed value of 64 for the velocity.
Furthermore, the NPK is limited to only transmitting on MIDI channel 3.

At 34 pounds, I believe that the NPK is less than half the weight of your A100 pedals.
Cheers, Hanon

Many thanks for your reply to my question Hanon.
These look like a great option. My quest for a dynamic set of 25 note plus bass pedals will probably never be fulfilled.
With so many incredible bass samples/modelling sounds out there it, it would be great to kick those pedals slapping and popping like a really bass player!!
Regards Lou

Hi Lou,
the Roland PK-7 respond and send velocity

But they're only 20 note.
Cheers, Hanon

Thanks once again Hanon,
I have a set of PK13 note pedals there dynamic are excellent, you can really open up bass sounds. They really do work! I play two feet heel and toe style, so the pk keys are just to short. The pedal keys 27 looks like that style of playing will not be a problem.

Any one know if midi channel 3 from the pedal keys is transmitted through the C2 for triggering outboard modules! Cheers Mike

Yes, the pedal midi input is transmitted on the midi out. There's a bug though in os versions lower than 2.00 that makes this feature not working unless you set the midi local mode to "external". In os v2.00 it always forwards the pedal input, as it should.

Nord C2
Nord Lead 2
Nord Electro 2 (sold)

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. I just got the Nord Stage 3 and I love it. I am using a Roland PK-5 for bass pedals, but have wanted to expand on that. Before I drop serious $$ on a Hammond or Nord, I was hoping to find out if they will function similarly to my PK-5. The PK-5 is great because you can easily change octaves and it's velocity sensitive, which is vital for what I do. I have two questions:

1. Are either the Nord PK-27 or Hammond XPK series velocity sensitive?
2. Are either the Nord PK-27 or Hammond XPK series able to change octaves JUST on the foot pedals themselves (i.e. not just changing the octave on panel A or B?

Thanks!

J

For the PK27 the answer is negative to both 1. (see posts above) and 2. (see specs and manualj, don’t know about the XPK but I suggest you check its specs and manual from Hammond’s web site
