Dear anotherscott, I now understood what you meant. Although, as for now it seems like I have to connect too many things together and since I am using the Set List Maker now...changing program is much, much easier than before!

Dear bdodds,

The short answer is: you can do anything you can imagine with MIDI, it's just a matter of how many pieces of hardware you'll have to add.
With the 1 program per song, well what I did with my list (a first draft as it were) was that I created multiple 'set list make songs' for 1 particular 'musical song' so that each of the 'set list song' will contain the sound which I need. So if I were to play song ASDF, and in this song I need 4 different programs then I'd have ASDF-Piano, ASDF-Brass, ASDF-Strings, and ASDF-Synth while all contain same detail but the MIDI CC are different...It kinda work ok for me so may be it's another way out, although you might be doing that already...if so then I'm just wasting your time lol.

Thanks anyway! Really help a lot!

Yes, or in some cases, how much creativity, time, and effort you want to put into programming. For example, using the EXT functions of the Nord Stage, you could actually send a single program change out of the Set List program, which would recall a patch on the Nord, which itself would recall patches on two attached devices, so then sending out the one program change can actually change the sound on three devices!

Sounds like you're all set, but if you do want to use a pedal to advance to the next song/patch, the nice thing about the bluetooth pedals is that they are wireless, so that helps address the issue of too many things to connect together.

That's another clever solution! Sure, if you need to send two program changes for Song X, just create 2 Song X entries in your Set List, one with each of the two Program Changes you need, named accordingly, and call them up in sequence, very nice. It may require an extra screen tap or swipe or whatever, but it would still be pretty quick. Since no single app is perfect, that might be a very workable compromise, to get the other benefits of SLM if that's the "missing piece" from the Yamaha version that someone needs.

Yes, I tried to get my setup to work just with the Stage's EXT section, but after I saw the additional things I could do with the setlist software (chord change notes, any things I have to remember about pedal settings) it was a no brainer. Plus, with the K&M iPad holder it fits perfectly below my mixer, so it's in previously useless space.

Hey, quicky...I was wondering where I can find the "MIDI" translation of each program slot on the NS2? I would have search the forum but have absolutely no idea what they are called nor what to look for...

Never mind just figured out lol...

just in case for those who haven't figure it out and those who are new to all this, here's what i did with Set List Maker : -
i set NS2 midi channel to MIDI 1
then in SLM (Set List Maker) when you are in the song edit mode you'll find at the bottom, list of MIDI channels and 3 blanks fields for each channel.
if i want the program to be set at A:1:1 then i'd set SLM MIDI to Ch1 : |blank| : |0| : |0|
*i assumed that the last empty box represents programs in each bank and the middle empty box represents banks, and i managed to get it work without touching the first empty box so i just left it out completely

i couldn't get how 'page' would work in SLM, but as far as i can understand, the program value, in the last empty box, just go from 0-99 represent programs 1:1-20:5, or all 100 of bank A programs. so for A:16:3 i'd put in Ch1 : |blank| : |0| : |77| and for B:2:4 is Ch1 : |blank| : |1| : |8|

*** I may not be completely 100% right, I am very new to the subject as well but so far so good for me!***

hope it can be of help!

The information you need is in the MIDI Messages section of the NS2 manual under Program Change and Bank Select. On the version of the manual I have, it's on page 57.
