Nord Electro 5D delay effect zipper noise

Post by Nordface »

Hi, the delay effect on my Nord Electro 5D makes some zipper noise if i adjust delay effect dry/wet control while playing. No noise when adjusting with no notes on. Is this just normal zipper noise of a digital effect or some other problem?

I haven‘t heard that before. Do you have latest OS loaded? 2.02

I can try with mine later today.

Cheers and a very warm welcome to this great forum of nord enthusiasts.

Just tested in all details with my NE5D 61, installed OS is 2.02.

No strange noise at all, no zipper, no matter if it’s organ or piano or synth sound. I can turn the knob back and forth, can switch mode 1 or 2 or 3 - all is fine.

You may need technical help.

Cheers from Germany

Well I’m not sure if this will be be helpful or not but there is an interesting sound that I secretly enjoy that happens when you have the amount of delay maxed out and then sweep the amount quickly. I might not choose the word “zipper” to describe it but I can see how one might. The caveat is that the delay type must be set to “analog” in the sound settings. My understanding is this sound came with the territory when using the older style of delay effects that actually used magnetic tape to provide the delay. I think the effect is reproduced nowadays for authenticity in digital delays that are emulating the analog ones.
