Post by lucas1234 »

Dear...
Just got my NW2 as a ex display from music shop.
The keys are very noisy - fill plastic like cheap Casio keyboard....
my old fantom or korg fill like premium compare to the nord...
I did a quick movie on youtube
its that normal or that nord its already been used to hard?

still have a week to return
Thanks for help!

Hi-

I would return it. I have had mine for 3 years and it still is one of the smoothest keybeds I have played. None of those noises exist in mine, especially that weird side to side noise. My keybed has a little of that movement, but none of that sound. The original Nord Wave and the Wave 2 have two of the best synth keybeds Nord has put in an instrument, in my opinion.

I can only confirm that. I only had the Wave 2 for a few weeks, but I immediately noticed the much quieter and smoother keyboard when I played it - especially compared to the Stage 3 Compact, which I had at that time (the Stage 4 Compact is also louder, but by far not like in your video).

I would also make a complaint, even if it was a display model!

no, it's not supposed to sound like that. it sounds like it has about 300 years of playing time on it. definitely return it, unless you bought it for 1/3 the price of a new one and want to replace all the key bushings.

The sound of the keys in your video reminds me of my old Yamaha CS2x, which was transported or stored in a semi-trailer for years at temperatures between -10 °C and 50 °C. I think that the plastic and rubber of the keyboard suffer a lot from this.

It's a shame about the Wave2's keybed, which I actually find to be very good (for a non-hammer keybed).

I would therefore also recommend returning the device.

The Wave 2's keybed is normally pretty quiet and feels very nice to play. I would not keep this unit.

That sounds like the crappy keyboard on my Lead A1 ( otherwise excellent synth ). It might be a really stress-test to be a demo board in a shop. Still, your sounds like something is really off, more than wear.
My first Nord was the Stage classic, also bought from a shop as a demo unit. The pitch stick had to be replaced ( covered on warranty ) after a month after I bought it. I have never had to do it again on that or my newer Nords.

I just went in and checked my NW2 (2020/21 model). It is quiet and smooth as silk.
You must have acquired one built on a late Friday afternoon. Or, it has been played roughly by many hands.
Please let us know how this was resolved.
Good luck !
