Losing Volume
Losing Volume
Recently purchased the 6d 61 key. Weird issue: when I play the organ, after less than a minute the volume starts to decay to the point that it is much softer. I haven't touched the volume pedal or made any changes to the settings, it just automatically goes down. Thinking maybe some weird polyphony issue? Anybody else encounter this?

Re: Losing Volume
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Many volume-related strange behaviours get traced back to pedals. Try disconnecting any control or expression pedals, and confirm the sustain pedal is plugged into the correct jack (or disconnected too). See if the problem persists.
Good luck and please let us know what you find so others can learn or try to help.

Re: Losing Volume
Agreed - pedals have a way of being nudged by accident and it can kill your vibe when playing if you're not aware...with my NS2 and NS3 rigs, I have always used one Yamaha FC7 dedicated to organ swell and another FC7 dedicated as a control pedal for various morphs that range from panel swaps to wah wah to delay times to filter sweeps and so forth. I have to make a mental note of where to have my pedals for each song, as I may be bringing in organ for the chorus and also sweeping the filter with another pedal. The worst is when I forget to bring my organ pedal back up to full volume when I have a prominent organ part and I'm like "wait, wait, what's going on?" only to realize I just need to move my pedal back up.pterm wrote:Hi and welcome to the forum.

Also there are menus in the Nords for how the pedals are working, in terms of global volume vs. assigned to one thing, so it might be a setting that needs to be adjusted. Keep us posted and if you're still struggling with it, try and post a video to demonstrate the problem. Good luck!

Re: Losing Volume
as an new member to the Forum and also first time owning a Nord, I have to say thank you for the terrific responses I received to my issue. In fact I did order a Yamaha FC7 pedal and will try unplugging my sustain pedal to see if that too is contributing to the problem. If anyone can guide me to global settings for the pedals I would really appreciate it. Again, what I am experiencing is I can't even get through an entire song without the volume fading about 1 minute into playing. It's so weird. If I stop playing and wait about 30 seconds the volume returns as it initially was. Or if I switch to another preset and return to the original preset the volume is great. I am hoping this is not some polyphony constraint. This happens if I have loaded only a B3 into a preset.

Re: Losing Volume
Could also be a defective pot (the Organ section Level one), try to rotate it fast a few times, to "clean" it.

Re: Losing Volume
this morning I took the advice of unplugging everthing other then the stereo outputs. problem gone, so it appears the pedals are the issue. I've ordered both the Nord sustain pedal and half moon switch as well as the Yamaha FC7 volume pedal. They arrive in a day or two and will post the results. I own several other synths and have never had an issue with the pedals I already own in terms of compatibility. Only thing I've ever run into is polarity with the TRS plug but that is not the issue here. This is my first Nord product and it just may come down to using specific pedals with their gear. We shall see.

Re: Losing Volume
This issue has come up repeatedly over the last years. I have brought it up twice.
I truly believe there is a larger issue that is being ignored. I have owned two Nord Electos. In general, I love them,
but I don't use the them as much as I wish I could
for live organ playing and won't buy another one until the organ volume drop is addressed.
