Stage metal music stand - making it magnetic

Post by mozart999uk »

HI. Recently bought some K&M magnets to use to keep my sheet music attached to my nord stand when playing outdoors (having given up with various types of clips and pegs).....only to discover that the nord music stand is not magnetic. I presume it's made out of Aluminium....

I've thought about getting some thin steel sheet and sticking it over the top of it,

I've found some on ebay I can get 0.8mm or 1mm thick.

What do you think? Will it work? Which thickness would be better? (light weight vs magnetic ability)

I also thought about just adding two strips of steel, top and bottom ......

Good idea, two steel strips (thickness from 1 to 1.5 mm), upper and lower glued to the back of the Nord music stand board, would definitely be enough.

If all your music sheets are similar and are placed in the same places on the music stand, maybe a solution could be to glue some magnets to the back of the Nord music stand board instead of steel bands (like the example on the picture).

This seems to me unnecessarily complicated (and heavy).
What about bulldog clips? You can get them in red.

I understand him, the magnet can be used in the area of the music stand (good for wind).

Bulldog clips can only be elegantly used on the left and right edges only,
on the upper edge strengthened by a bend (also visible in the picture with magnets), perhaps a clothespin is the best (I have also seen it made of plastic, red one) :)

OR ... 4 pieces of Bulldog clips (now black so they don't rust) in the corners of the music stand hold a transparent plastic foil, under which music sheets are hidden.
Maybe a good alternative.
