NS2 Keybed clicking noise

Post by royceathome »

After 5 years of frequent use, my NS2 HA 88 has developed a few keys that make a mechanical clicking noise when struck with medium to hard finger velocity. This noise is not transmitted via the audio signal to the amp or headphones outlets, but can be heard when I play in in quieter venues (certainly not at my rock gigs). Does anyone know the source of the noise (perhaps worn keybed pads?). If so, is this something easily repaired (by me), or will it require a skilled Nord authorized technician?

Unfortunately, it seems to be a common issue. As far as I know, it is typically just an issue with the felt under the key having lifted, separated, and/or moved, and you can fix it yourself relatively easily.

I haven't had this issue, or attempted to fix it, personally, so please take my response with a grain of salt. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in here. If you do a Google search, you will find quite a few discussions and videos on this topic.

Thank you. This is what I expected might be the case. I appreciate your input on this subject.
