After more than 50 h of work on my new Nord stage 4 I decided that I should make a backup of it. Somewhere here I would like to note that in Nord I have not put in any new samples because it is simply not possible... from my old Nord stage 2 . The time needed to make it was more than 2 h!! I use Macbook pro M1!.Isn't this absurd in 2023? I would also like to hear your own experiences in this matter?

True, it's a very slow process the first time if you're backing up all of the files, however every file you back up and every file you add to the NS4 with NSM is added to a cache (not sure where in a Mac) to speed up writing backup files in the future. You can test how well this works by writing another backup to see how long it takes. The restoration process is quicker as well to the extent most of the pianos/samples are already on the NS4. The major drawback is that if you plan to rent Stage 4s on tour, you should limit changing out the piano files especially as they won't be on the rental unit. If for example you delete all of the "stock" XL pianos and replace them with "L" pianos, the time you load your backup on the rental will be impacted significantly as they won't already be on the NS4.

If you have not used any new samples, then just select all the programs and back them up. Takes seconds, and that is where all of your work is. A full backup includes the samples which you already have.
