I can hear it too, XL on my Electro 5, and I don't like it either. Too bad, as the Royal 3D is a really nice piano sound otherwise.

Isn't this "character?"

One person's character is another person's flaws. I won't use the Nefertiti Rhodes for that reason - too many flubby keys.
