According to the manual, the new DYN COMP function requires piano samples from version 6. Obviously these new samples are "treated/edited" in such a way that this new dynamic works.
Another good finding Nordlicht !
That may be the reason why Nord has upgraded the old piano sounds v5.x to v6.x for the Piano 5.
Still the upgraded piano sounds are beneficial to other keyboards even without the DYN COMP, so that's weird that Nord has not made them "publicly" available.

Wondering this myself. Clearly saving the space on the White Grand makes it a no brainer. But if I have a Stage 3, is my *only* move here to replace the White Grand? And are we 100% sure the White Grand is identical, even without that 40MB? Hard to understand how that's done, but I certainly believe it can be true.
I am in the same boat as you are. It would make sense that the only thing the newer versions add is the dyn compatibility, so for the rest of us who don't have the Piano 5, the only other thing that matters is file size.
But as long as Nord is deadly silent about the whole thing, I guess the only thing is to try them out and see whether there are other differences, apart from the dyn filters, with the previous versions.
You also save 10mb with the new mono CP80 (electric grand).
Since I was using both that and the White Grand XL, my savings are now over 50mb. That's an important amount, especially for older boards.
Plus the Wurli dyno options are a significant sound improvement to the original Wurli samples that are now ten years old. Those are compatible with Nord Stage 2/2/ EX/3, Piano 3/4/5, Electro 5/6, and the Nord Grand.

To add to the confusion, there are two different Factory Restore files for the Piano 5 in two different pages of the website. One has the older (public) versions of the samples, called Rev B, the other has the newer ones, called Rev D.
No mention is made of the difference on either page. So I can see a Piano 5 user deciding to restore, picking a different version unintentionally, and then being very confused as to what happened to their samples, especially if they unintentionally "downgraded" to Rev B, and lost their Wurly dyno options.

Yes, this was the first thing I noticed on their website when looking for any files for my new NP5. It doesn’t give the impression of being well maintained.
I’ve loaded most of the V6 samples also into my Stage 3 without any audible difference.

None of this is surprising to me. We often think that these companies have giant staff, working in big buildings with big budgets and even bigger levels of competency. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if the staff is small, and the people who maintain the site are not in contact with the people tweaking the sounds. Or maybe the sound folks contacted the website people but the email was overlooked. Nothing would surprise me anymore. The website "people" might be one guy in his parents' basement who can barely manage to get out of bed before sunset. Not trying to be harsh, but in my line of work (I own a small technology services company with 8 employees) I have seen the quality of work at other companies we deal with go through the floor and well into the ground. It's hard to find good people, and even harder to get anyone to care about anything! Looking forward to that pendulum swinging back the other direction and hopefully soon.
Given Nord's status in the industry, its roster of musicians, its product line, its price points, and its long history as a (the) premiere digital keyboard manufacturer - I'm surprised. Especially because the actual person-time to update the samples on the site can be counted in minutes.

Don’t get me wrong. I find it to be completely ridiculous and unacceptable. I’m just no longer surprised when companies don’t do what appear to be such obvious and easy things. Hopefully things will improve as Covid fades into the distance.
Nice to talk to you again! The short answer for this is that we are aware of the fact that some of the Piano 5 content, which was modified/updated in various steps, is not yet up in the regular Libraries - we’re sorry for any inconvenience around this and make a note to make sure all content is in sync across backup archives and the website. As usual we can’t give exact info on when it will be done, but many thanks for notifying, and feel free get back with any additional queries around this.
