Problem with Midi Clock Sync on Wave2

Post by kla234 »

Hi!

For a project I need to sync my Wave2 (Arp) with other gear.

My planned setup:
Digitone sends Midi Clock
Digitone and Wave > KENTON MIDI Merge > back to Wave + OB6 Module

So far no issues with midi feedback on the Wave and I can control the tempo from the Digitone and play the Wave and OB with the Waves keybed. OB6 arp/seq run perfectly in time, but Wave2 Arp runs slightly faster. (external clock is detected but runs out of time after 30 seconds or so)

So I hooked up the Digitone directly to the Midi In of the Wave. Same problem. External clock detected but runs out of timing.

I tried also with a Matriarch which also worked perfectly as the OB6. Only the Wave2 seems to not match up with the Midi Clock.

Do I need an external Clock like the ERM multi clock and set an offset to one output, or is it a defect of the Wave2? Or is there any other way?

Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi,
If this happens only with the W2, then I suggest to let Clavia know, maybe this is a bug they are not aware of.

In the mean time, have you tried connecting the Digitone to the Wave2 Midi In and the Midi Out/Thru to the OB6? I suppose that it would not go out of synch that way (but I might be missing something about what other MIDI data is going where? What does the OB6 supposed to listen to?).

Thanks for your support!

I got reply at another forum from a user: In his setup the digitone-Wave connection works as I intended. So I suspect a defect of mine.
But I will try different setups tomorrow to be sure.

cheers!

I have a similar problem
Synchronization with Cubase does not work, neither via MIDI nor via USB.
Does midiclock work for someone? :)

My setup is pure DIN MIDI based and i have no MIDICLOCK/SYNC problem with any Nord in the setup:

Nord Wave 2 is master keyboard sending its MIDI to

Roland MC-707 which sends its MIDICLOCK and incoming MIDI from NW2 to

SIPARIO Midisplitter which sends the MIDICLOCK and MIDI to

4 x Micromonster, Nord Lead A1R, Nord lead 4R, Moog Voyager, EssenceFM, Access Virus, Misc MIDI effect pedals/racks, Computer and finally NW2 gets the synced MIDICLOCK from here.

Pressing STOP/PLAY on the Roland MC-707 resets the sync on all units.

Hi all!

I am thinking about buying NW2 but this Midi sync issue makes me little worried. How common this issue actually is? To me syncing arpeggiator patterns to external Midi clock is a crucial thing…

Hi-

There may always be midi sync issues when using multiple pieces of gear. Both mkastrup and Rcmusic report no problems. It will depend on your routing, how the midi spec is implemented in each piece, and the use if USB or DIN connections. I think it is more likely that it will work than assuming it won't. The OP reported that another user got it working with the same basic setup.

Hi,

Got a NW2 for testing at home. Still thinking whether to buy or not to buy.

I see and hear lot of potential. I agree with some users here that presets are not very convincing. But at least MIDI sync seems to work fine (I took a MIDI clock from Elektron Digitone and NW2's arps sync fine with that)

I also had big problems with the MidiSync over USB. Do the sync now as follows:
- E-RM Multiclock (Master), Plugin in Logic.
- Via Din all external devices are now perfectly synced.

An expensive solution, I know. But I was in between so desperate with various synchronization problems that I did not know how to help myself. I have now found the perfect solution for me.
