K & M Baby Spider Pro 18840 Video?
I just received my Nord stage 3 88 and I am looking for a stand to help protect this investment. I have a Hercules Double X Keyboard Stand KS120B, however at standing height the foot print is so small that I'm afraid an in opportune bump would send this keyboard to the floor. I like the K & M Table 18953 which appears much more stable and adjustable, and the K & M Baby Spider Pro 18840 which I find incredibly beautiful. The problem is, I haven't found a Baby Spider Pro in a local store to test its stability. Does anyone know where I can find a video of someone playing their keyboard on a Baby Spider Pro to see how stable it is?

I owned a Baby Spider Pro and used it for years. It is a great looking stand, but did have some side to side sway motion when playing, and I was using the NS3 compact which weighs much less than the NS388. I suggest that for stability you consider the K&M 18880. I use this and even without the crossbar it is very stable, simple to set up, and extremely light to carry.

+1 on the K&M 18880. See pictures attached. Takes less than 10 seconds to set up, it's light enough to carry with one finger, very sturdy, and virtually disappears on stage. You can set it up wider, but I prefer the "pedestal" look (legs 18" apart) which keeps all the ports on the rear of the NS3 accessible.DJKeys wrote:I suggest that for stability you consider the K&M 18880. Thanks DJKeys. When you say without the crossbar, do you mean those accordion criss crosses?DJKeys wrote:I owned a Baby Spider Pro and used it for years. Nice photos ajstan. With the legs so close there isn't a risk of it toppling over?ajstan wrote:+1 on the K&M 18880. See pictures attached. The 18880 comes with a bar that connects the two sides together at the top, but it is not needed. Even with it, easily the lightest stand I ever had-Cernek wrote:Thanks DJKeys. Re: K & M Baby Spider Pro 18840 Video?
Thanks. It does look like it's just balancing there, doesn't it? In reality it's super stable and strong and feels like it's on a solid table with zero bounce. Despite the stand being set at 18" wide, there is only around 16" overhang of keyboard outside of each leg. That means 34" is on the opposite side of the fulcrum, so it would take a lot of intentionally applied force to tip the keyboard or the entire stand itself. Even the heaviest hand playing the lowest or highest notes can't come close to being a problem.Cernek wrote:Nice photos ajstan. With the legs so close there isn't a risk of it toppling over?

There is an extensive thread on MPN you may want to look at where the 18880 is discussed at length, lots of pictures and modification tips:

Hi,
can one of you recommend a decent case to carry the 18880?

It doesn't really need a case, as it is so light, you can put it anywhere easily, I put it behind the front seats of my car, as it is very thin when collapsed.
Best stand I ever had.
