NE6 - Transpose (+/- octave) MIDI out
Hi group,
can someone confirm that the NE6 it is not able to output the correct MIDI values with the function transpose (+/- octave) via USB Midi, even the system setting function "TRANSPOSE MIDI AT" is set on "OUT"?
For example:
When using the NE6 together with an external sound module, pressing the Transpose function on the NE6 in the piano section will not transpose the sounds of the external sound module.
PS: The transposition function in the system menu can also transpose external sound modules, but only in a range of +6 and -6, which is not enough for my case, because an octave is sometimes required.

Re: NE6 - Transpose (+/- octave) MIDI out
There are three transpose mechanisms on your NE6:
a) Global transpose (+/- 6 semitones)
b) per-program transpose (+/- 6 semitones)
c) octave-shift for every engine on its own
So, if you've got your piano and the synth on at the same time and only the synth shifted, the Electro wouldn't know which of the two notes to send: So, I guess, the octave-shift of the single engines is probably not followed within MIDI.
But what about that very dirty detour: Set Global Transpose to +6 and Per-Panel transpose to either +6 or -6 to sometimes get a full octave, sometimes nothing. Only if it's that important for you!

T h a n k s FZIEGLER for your good input and advice!
But:
I just know the global and octave shift transpose function..., where is the per-program transpose function hidden ?

I don't own a NE6, but according to the manual, you have the global transpose in the System Settings and the per-panel transpose with [Shift][LiveMode]+turning the dial.

YES..., just found the function and this setting helps now for certain situations perfectly !
That is helping me also to save money..., I thought I had to trade my NE 61 version for a NE 73 version.
THANK YOU and best regards from Vienna...

Re: NE6 - Transpose (+/- octave) MIDI out
Hi Guys,
I can actually confirm that the NE6 (i run version 2.60) can output the right MIDI notes when transposing the sound.
Regarding transposing:
You have the octave transpose buttons on all 3 sound engines within a patch'
You can have the sound transposed and memorized for each individual patch (keep pressing the shift + transp buttons and set the transpose value with the value pot between -6 and +6)
You can transpose the whole NE6 instrument in the global/system setting 4/16 between -6 and +6
So if you would like to set transpose on a per patch basis, you could do so.
You could then decide what MIDI notes are being sent out via MIDI OUT. Within global/system settings 13/16 you can set 'Transpose MIDI at' to either IN or OUT. I have only tested OUT: setting it to OUT means that outgoing MIDI OUT notes are actually being transposed when the individual patch transpose is being set. So in a patch without transpose on, playing a middle C results in a C3 MIDI output. If you have a patch with transpose on and set to for example +2, playing a middle C results in hearing a D3 sound on the NE6 and also a D3 MIDI output.
So when you have connected external keys to the MIDI OUT of the NE6, and play a tranposed patch on the NE6, the external keys will play the right notes without having to transpose the external keys.
