Whenever I attempt to adjust (increase) the volume potentiometer in an individual section (either piano, organ, or synth) of layers on my Nord Electro 6D, the volume totally drops to faint, and even turning up the pot won't bring it to acceptable volume, let alone bring it back to what it was before. Only way I can regain original volume is to reboot, but then I can't adjust individual layer volumes to adjust balance when one layer is too dominant (overpowering the other layer). I've diligently researched the issue, searched online, and read the user manual (but obviously I'm missing something).

Can anyone offer any guidance? I saw where someone previously had the identical problem but didn't see a response.

Do you have anything plugged into the control pedal jack? If so remove it and see what happens.
From what I see on this forum, strange volume-related behaviors were most often caused by unexpected input or wrong pedal type connected at control jack.

Thanks for the response, pterm. No, I don't. But I have received a lead from Logan at customer support. He has indicated that, by way of background, when the NE6 is turned on, the piano level (and presumably other engine levels) are set at 100%, but the instant the user turns the volume level either way, the setting reverts to control by the engine pot level (potentiometer, not the kind many people smoke...LOL). We've concluded that one factor that may be complicating my issue is that I'm only using the right output channel into my bookshelf speakers at my desk. I'll be plugging a Y-splitter patch cord into both left and right channels in the days ahead to see if/how that may change things. It may just be that when I'm on stage or at gigs, I might have to have my keyboard amp set to higher volume than I really need, tweak the console volume lower, and then control the output to the keyboard amp from my NE6 console. I'll eventually be using a volume pedal (possibly to the chagrin of our sound manager...LOL) but I won't do that until after the smoke clears on the current issue. Thanks so much for your input!

Hello, just to cover one possibility, I would suggest loading (or reloading) the latest OS. Does the problem exist when using headphones with the output channel unplugged? How are the bookshelf speakers powered and why not stereo?

Hey, WannitBBBad...I stay quite abreast of the latest OS updates, so I was O.K. there, but you gave me an idea. When I connect the 1/8" (balanced) jack into a 1/4" (balanced) adapter jack, then plug into the NE6 "headphones" output with the line going to my bookshelf speakers (they were for an older computer I had, not intended for musical instruments), the same drop-occurs to some extent, but nowhere nearly as much as when I was plugging into the right NE6 output channel. After plugging into the headphones output, even after the drop-off during tweaking of the volume pot, I still have plenty of headroom on the volume pot! Thanks so much for giving me the idea during my troubleshooting process.

I'm guessing I'll be OK at gigs because I plan to use stereo (2 separate TRS lines) probably to a DI box(s) then out to the mains. I knew the setup wasn't ideal, but the bookshelf speakers are great in my office (they don't take up much room) when I'm playing with myself or for getting a few quick licks on my organ during the workday.

The E6’s L/R 1/4” outputs aren’t balanced, so there’s no need for TRS cables. Just regular 1/4” TS instrument cables.
