Miditech Midiface 4x4 - what is the routing?

Post by Schorsch »

Hello,

does anyone use the Miditech Midifac 4x4 Interface and can tell me how it routes the midi signals from the 4 midi ins to the midi outs (unfortunately this thing is not configurable)? Is it that all Midi signals from all 4 Midi In ports go in parallel to all Midi Out ports (any-to-any) or is it 1:1, so Midi In 1 goes only to Midi Out 1, Midi In 2 to Midi Out 2 etc.?
Regards Schorsch

From the specs and description on the manual https://miditech.de/en//download/midiface-4x4/ it seems it is just a 4INs/4OUTs MIDI interface, no embedded routing at all, so any routing has to be done on the computer via SW.

Yes I had seen the specs and sorry for not being precise enough, I was wondering how it operates when working standalone, just powered by a USB power supply - but maybe that's not supported at all, unlike i.e. the M-Audio Midisport 2x2?

Yes I think that's the case, apparently it does not support standalone operations, it is just a 4x4 USB MIDI I/F (while the Midisport 2x2 explicitly supports that and in fact the manual provides full explanations on how to)
