Hej good people

arthritis has prevented me from playing, but I started up my Nord Stage 2 for the first time in many years. The buttons did not work and the LCD screen gave up funny characters. I updated to OS Version 3, and did a factory reset of the sounds. Now the LCD screen shows only black dot matrix rectangles, and most buttons do not work. I can get good sounds, and change to different programmes, but cant tell where I am and have to randomly press buttons to get back to whatever sound I wanted.

Anything to do except take into service, and if taken into service, a guess at the price point in Swedish Kronor? I need to sell the unit in order to pay for dental work...

Hi Sakari,

it might happen because of some connectors not being seated properly anymore, or some sort of oxidation if the Stage 2 was not stored in a dry environment over the years. If you feel comfortable to open the Stage 2 you can try to reseat all connectors on the boards and see if this helps, otherwise service would be the only option I think.

ok, cool. it was stored in a dry place, with a dust cover, but with cats.
I will try and open it, things cant get worse. Thanks

Hm...opened it up, pressed everything pressable, and it is functioning much better but not perfect, about 76% I would say.

For a more complete maintenance you should completely unplug the cables (both sides) and spray some electronics contact cleaner ("Deoxit") on the pins and inside the connectors (not too much, just enough to clean the contacts) , let it dry then reconnect the cables.

PS: how do you measure that "76%"??
