Hi All - Quick question:

I recently bought a new desk with a keyboard tray, and after shifting around my desk it actually makes the most sense to put my nord on the keyboard tray if possible. Here is my issue: The Nord is about 2/8 '' too tall.

I think the easiest way for this to happen (if possible) is to remove or shave down the rubber feet on the bottom. Does anyone know if this is possible and how?

You could also get a hole saw bit for a drill and create holes for the rubber feet to rest in.

Given the desk is likely cheaper than the Stage 3 that makes better sense!

How does the keyboard tray attach to the desk. You might be able to get some strips of wood or plastic and make a spacers to put between the desk and tray mount. That would drop the tray down.

hopefully this is not one of those 10 second projects that runs to 5 hours...

I was going to glibly say "don't anyone overthink this, just unscrew the feet and lay the NS3 down on non slip pad"..

...but then i took a quick look.. and while to be fair it was an upside down squint as the board is all connected up.. but are the feet seriously attached by rivets?..

if so thats simply depressing.. i have removed the feet from a number of boards to reduce height, or to make easier to put onto stands.

So if you remove or put holes for the feet in the tray the NS3 will sit flat on the tray or some pad. Have you talked to Nord and asked if air needs to circulate under the NS3 for cooling? Something to consider.

Yes. Keep this in mind when it's on a flat table.

well, its not my project, but i sincerely doubt that an elevated position is required for power dissipation..and i would not have the remotest second thought of doing this, however

my comment was more that.

a) this is not an abnormal thing to do on synths (i have done it 5 times)
and
b) attaching feet by rivets (if indeed this is the case), is an absurd manufacturing decision, and while drilling them out and re-riveting is certainly straightforward, it does carry some risk vs the wielding of a screwdriver

but

c) given that I change the synth on my desk every couple of months like many nuts, making a shelf swiss cheese to accommodate them all would make it a no-shelf..lol
