I created a backup file (.ne6b format) from my Electro 6D 61 last week using the latest Sound Manager, v7.66. When I tried to restore it, I got the following message:
Restore Error
Unable to restore: Operation is not allowed
The file "Marimba 6.1" is not allowed to be moved from bank "Layer". (Move)
So I clicked OK, and got met with ANOTHER error.
Restore Failed
Operation is not allowed
This happens every time I try to restore from that backup. I don't even understand what it means! Anyway I opened a support ticket from the Nord website. I'm hoping this can be fixed somehow. I had a bunch of custom sample programs I created in the Nord Sample Editor, and I don't think I had all of them backed up outside of this backup file!
Any thoughts, suggestions, et cetera would be appreciated.
So, if anybody else has this problem, I've received a response from Nord's US support team at American Music and Sound.
Hi,
Before performing the Restore operation, simply delete the Marimba from the Piano tab. Thereafter it may be a good idea to make a new backup to avoid this happening again.
At some point the specification for which bank the Marimba and Vibraphone should live in was changed, and in certain circumstances (depending the OS used when downloading the Marimba, version of Nord Sound Manager used at that point etc.) issues of this kind can happen.
Best regards,

In the end I had to delete the Vibraphone as well in order to initiate the restore process. It's rather concerning to me that Nord hasn't patched this issue of which they/their support team are clearly aware, but at least the fix is simple.
