Nord Piano 5 73 Case

Post by Guynextdoor »

Anyone using the Nord soft case HP with their Piano 5 73? Still waiting for my mine (bought as a bundle from Kraft Music) but curious how well it fits.

Good question... like you, I've ordered the piano 5 - 73 keys along with the HP softcase. ( been waiting now for 7 weeks )

The dimensions of the Electro 6 HP (as given on the nord website) are very similar to the Piano 5 - 73. So, I expect it should fit nicely.
Hopefully my order will arrive soon and I can verify this !!
cheers from Australia,
Allan

I have the 73 soft case. Fits very snug as can be seen here with my old Electro 5HP which is the same size as the Piano 5 73.

The case is pretty light but very plushly padded inside with a thick soft velvety material.

Pocket on front is huge so fits all your cables pedals etc in, and even the Stand EX legs if you have this.

Plus it looks the business in bright red and with the big Nord logo :)

Thanks, Kirsty, the photo helps. Nord never listed this as an accessory for the Piano 73 so I wasn't totally sure

73 key piano 5 arrived today, along with a nord HP softcase. A perfect match !!

I don't understand why Nord/Clavia (as yet) haven't promoted this HP softcase for the P 5 - 73. The combined weight is 19.25 kg.

In my instrument stables I also have a piano 3 with softcase/wheels ( a hefty 27.25 kg) ok on wheels but a real pain when negotiating steps.
and the superlight electro 6D and case ( just 11.75 kg).
I've been playing the electro 6D in a big band for the past year and haven't missed the extra 15 keys.. not an issue for me. However my piano solos suffer
from the limitations of waterfall keys. Fine nuances in dynamics are difficult to obtain.

I can see that the p 5 - 73 will become my board of choice for three reasons

1. weight reduction from the 88 key p3 (very important for this 63 yr old)
2. The case easily fits across the back seat
3. triple sensor touch sensitivity suits piano solos better than waterfall keys of the electro

I'll retain the E 6D ... the P 3 will be looking for a new home
cheers and happy days, Allan :keyboard2:

How sturdy does the case feel and how much do you think the bag could handle on the road in terms of protecting the board Allan? I was considering getting a Gator Pro Go 61 for my NP5 73, but I am reconsidering after seeing that the Nord case properly fits. I think the tradeoff would be more protection using the Gator case vs a less overall bulk and a perfect fit in the Nord case? Would have to think about this one.

For my purposes, where I am the only person handling the case to and from local gigs and weekly rehearsals, this case suits me for the p 5 - 73. ( and I have no expectation to ever transport it as aeroplane luggage )
The top of the HP soft case has some thick velvet like material as well as the large "nord music stand sized pocket" which offers some level of protection to the keys and the knobs from any light bumps it may endure in handling and transportation on the back seat of my car.
The HP side walls seem a little thinner than the top/base yet have the plush velvet material to offer some basic protection.

I have used the similar Electro 73 softcase with the E6D to and from gigs/rehearsals over 100 times and there is no sign of wear and tear to the case or the electro.(I give high priority when caring for my instruments)

The 88 key nord softcase has noticeably heavier/thicker linings all round... base/top/side walls. that also means it is significantly heavier as well.

The HP soft case and 73 key Piano 5 suits my needs where I am the only handler... but I can understand that others who may travel with roadies and/or aeroplane luggage would need a solid case.

Thanks Allan, I think I'm leaning towards the Nord case now as I would also be the only person handling the case. Would you happen to know the dimensions (height and width) of the large front pocket as well?

Dimensions of the top pocket... 900 x 330 x 70 mm ... more than enough room for the nord music stand ( in photo) .
(If you have nord legs/braces, I believe they fit in the pocket also..though I happily use a Z stand :D )

I carry pedal, cables, charts separately.

cheers, Allan
