Hi,

I finally bought a Neo Ventilator II and now I am wondering how to safely carry it around. I have hard and/or soft cases for my boards and usually just chuck everything else (cables, cords, pedals) into those little bags on the side. However, the Vent costs more than all my other utilities combined and it's the only thing - especially given its external power supply - I would consider "vulnerable".

Any recommendations for protective cases that fit snugly?

Not very expensive but protects it very well, you can cut out the inlay to exactly match the dimensions of the Vent 2

Have you thought about making a dedicated pedal board where you could keep all your pedals mounted safely together, along with the Vent? A lot of users do this.

Also, consider a rack if you are using any other outboard gear like mixers or DIs. I've had my Vent safely tucked away in a rack for over 10 years, using a remote footswitch. It has stayed in perfect condition and the power supply as well.

I have kept the first school bag of my daughter - initially because it was just there, but later on especially after I got comments like cool, iconic etc. - which takes all pedals, power units, mixer, gaffa tape, short cables etc. I think a vent would fit in there very well. Furthermore it’s good first protection against rain.

Edit: I may add that in this year‘s summer it’s 30 years old and lasts as on its first days.

Great theft protection. Only a little foam is missing. But the simple boxes I put my utilities in aren't G protected, too.

I agree with FZ, excellent theft protection TB. If I'm a thief and I see the bag with hearts and a little doggy on it, I figure I'd be lucky to get a peanut butter sandwich, some cookies, and maybe a Barbie doll

My kids are not in school yet (boy is 5 years old, girl 8 months), but I'll look into it. School gear has become hefty expensive, though.

I agree with the earlier suggestion to find and use an old bag or case designed for children. I would look at re-sale shops (or whatever is the equivalent in Germany) for a study bag of the right size, with at least two compartments, that can be fully closed with zippers. Certainly a kid's design and colors will make it easier to see in dim lighting and should make it less attractive to thieves.

I haven't used kid's bags, but all of my accessory bags and cases are used hand luggage or cases that I've repurposed. Here is an example of a small hard case found in a re-sale shop that I'm using to house a Behringer X-Air digital mixer, a wifi router and a power strip. I added foam to the case to hold everything in place whether the case is open or closed. To use the mixer I only have to open the case and connect mains power and my audio cables. I paid less than US$10 for the used case.

My husband made his own case for all the guitar effects pedals he has.

He cut two boards (old kitchen cupboard doors) to fit into each side of a suitcase (small, old-style, hard-sided, briefcase size). It has dividers in the middle to keep items on each side separate from each other. He then put Velcro on both the bottom of the pedals and on the wood (you can buy it with sticky "stuff" on the outsides).

He probably has 6 effects pedals on each side of the case. The fit is perfect and they stay where they're supposed to. At gigs, he just takes the board out and sets it on the stage.

Just to get back to y'all:

I sold the Legend and I sold the Vent. But I bought a pedal board nonetheless. The Vox Continental has an external power supply and I always used to struggle to keep my sustain pedals in check, so now everything stays in place. Shame about the Vent, though...
