Soft, sostenuto pedal not working

Postby tadeas123 » 11 Jan 2022, 16:56

Ive connected my N6D with my new Kawai VPC1 (MIDI). Kawai has a triple pedal - sustain, soft and sostenuto. But only sustain pedal works. What to do? Could it work somehow? Thanks

Hi, NE6 Piano Section does not support soft and sostenuto, you can see they are not listed in the MIDI Controllers appendix of the manual

So for what kind of device is it useful? ://

What do you mean, VPC1 pedals? For Virtual Pianos or other HW pianos that support soft/sostenuto (e.g. Nord Stage 3 does), of course.

Yes, I understand. My set is NE6 + VPC, I don't want to play with my notebook next to me. So .. bad for me :(

If you go on stage with that combination (nice schlepp!), you might want to preserve the triple pedal and buy an additional sustain pedal (switch type) for your VPC1. Try to find out if the VPC1 supports that - the Electro won't even recognise a continuous sustain signal, as far as I know: only on and off.
Stage 3 Compact (Rev.B 2.1 - OS 2.60) - Kawai VPC1 / Yamaha CP33 - Hall of Fame & NeoVent2 - Behringer Flow-8 - K&M stands 18820+18811 / 18953+18952 - Samsung tablet with MobileSheetsPro & AirTurn Duo200 - QSC K8.2s / Fischer InEars

The odd thing is - I have an Electro 5D and a VPC1, and the soft pedal does work as expected (though I had to change some VPC1 settings to make sustain work properly...)

Same here. My Electro 5D works flawlessly with the triple pedal, but when I had a Nord Electro 6D here for a while I couldn't make it work for the soft and sostenuto pedals, despite trying all possible settings (I believe). Strange.
