red stain used for Nord keyboards

This is the right place if your topic concerns different Nord Keyboards, you are not sure which one is the right one for you, etc.

Hi together,

I recently built a stand for my C2 organ - and it was a challenge for me to match the Nord-red.

Important to know: Iam no carpenter and this is just for me at home - not for transports or gigs.
But I wanted to show you my results.

Material:
- wooden (pine?) shelf from IKEA ( ), adapted to the ideal height
- mounted a back panel of ply wood (also raw pine)
- used a powder-based stain from CLOU (s. photo), color "Hellrot" No. 154
- then applied by brush several layers of a waterborne clear coat for interior uses ("Aqua Clou Holzlack", semi-glossy, also from CLOU)

Look:

(This is the first attempt, perhaps I will do this again - then with turned legs...)

Greetings

Excellent job!! Seems you matched the colour of the wooden side panels perfectly!
Now only needed would be to drill some wholes in the bottom and move all the plugs there ;-) Or paint the hose.

thanks for the pics and info ! that's a great job. i decided to use a dark cherry stain on one of the Moog Opus, and a lighter
stain on the other Opus. will keep your info handy for future projects.

Here is my proto 1. Nr 2 will be black with beefier legs.
Sides are 3 mm mdf board glued (white glue) to styrofoam on both sides. Two layers of laminating epoxy seals the mdf and makes it very hard.
Stain is herdins (swedish brand) and then boat varnish.
Sides use wardrobe magnetic locks as fasteners.
Legs come from hornbach. (they have thicker legs and this is what will be used for the next one)

Given my Chromatic color samples, the Nord is "Rouge Semillon" CH1 0720.

We might need to collect results for different color matching systems. Germany has RAL and HKS, France has Seigneurie Gauthier, Pantone is american and widely known because of Adobe Software products. And all of them have different color tables for different materials. As far as I know, you can't even select from the same table for the wooden ends and the metal coating of the Nords.

On our computers, we recently got used to standardized colours, but in reality, this is quite more challenging and will mostly need testing samples. (I'm not an expert, though - just been using different color tables for different paper qualities while printing art)

I'd always recommend not to order paint from elsewhere but to go with your colour sample directly to the paint shop.

Even Rudi's red nose won't fully look the same on different surfaces. Merry Christmas!

Clavia will most likely use NCS colors, a Swedish color system that’s mainly used in Scandinavia for architecture and design.

PS: I’m a paint engineer ;)
