I have both one of the early NS3Cs, and just got the latest-greatest version. They are essentially the same instrument. Going back and forth between the different layouts isn't an issue, as I do 5% programming and 95% performing. The new keybed was nice to my fingers, but -- then again -- the old one has gotten a *lot* of use.
If you can get significant $$$ off on used, great. I couldn't find that deal, so I spent a bit more and got a "B-stock" at a meaningful discount. I think there was maybe $150 between the two, so for $150, please send me a new unit.
This speaks to demand and resale value, which hasn't changed in over a decade of me buying and selling Nords.

Re: Going to buy a NS3 this morning. What about bugs?
I also have both, like cphollis - my first NS3 Compact is the early panel and I have a newer one with the updated panel. I learned the instrument with the first panel and it works just fine. The newer one is slightly more intuitive for some functions, though it really is a wash in the end. I sometimes forget which one is which, LOL. I usually have the older one as my rehearsal/sound editing board that I keep in a soft case for ease of transport to rehearsals. I keep my newer one in a flight case for gigs. I always have to remember to load new sounds and samples into the gig board when I've created things in the other one.
If you're getting a good deal on an older one, I say go for it!

Re: Going to buy a NS3 this morning. What about bugs?
Thank you for all the help, the keyboard was fine, sounded great and I bought it,
I’ve got it home and played on it a bit more tonight and it’s perfect in every respect. I’ve also updated to the latest 2.62 software. It was on 1.26.
Again. Thank you for all your help.

Where is the "KB Zones" in the new NS3-88 panel ?
I have it under button 5 (next to 4=Extern). I see this is named "Utility" : is this just a name change or should I look for another location ?

Hi, pressing the Utility button (Shift + Program 5) gives you access to two functions, which can be selected with the page buttons:
1) Prog Levels
2) KB Zones
There were dedicated buttons for each of the two on the old panel

Re: Going to buy a NS3 this morning. What about bugs?
I came across a bug, a one-in-a-million, but if I were buying a used NS3 compact, I'd check this...see my post regarding something I encountered which resulted in a new main board.

It's not a bad idea to test that jack, though. I think, I still haven't, even if I bought a Boss FS-6 pedal especially for that. Never needed multiple programs in one piece of music up to now: My 2-kb-setup always was enough.
