Do you know what the current consumption is and did you tried to power it off the Midi Out's pin 4 "5V" pin?
Your build looks very clean and well-made. --The only improvement I thought of was to try eliminating the external power feed (if possible).

Unless Nord has changed something, their MIDI out has not ever carried power. Way back when I used a Voce MIDI Drawbar with my NE2 via a MIDI Solutions box that would translate the conversation between boxes, I needed to use a separate power supply box for the MIDI Solutions box. Also, I had the Ocean Beach drawbar module in use with my NS2. The guy that built these incorporated a 9V battery inside the drawbars to accommodate the lack of power coming from the Nord. I wonder if this pitch / mod stick could be powered via 9V instead of separate external power?

Nord does supply power over Midi, only its 3.3v not 5v and not a lot of current. I had this discussion directly with them a couple of years ago at NAMM. Pretty much for the same reason you did, because I had a Midi Solutions box that wouldn't work. However, if you look at the current crop of Midi Solutions boxes you will see they now support 3.3v Midi power.

I looked at the Electro 2 schematics (only ones available online).
http://www.workhousepoets.com/NE2%20Service%20Manual%20&%20Schematics.pdf
They definitely implement the 5V out pin 4 through a 220Ohm resister per the MIDI DIN standard. I don't know if they continue to do this on NE6, but since it's the standard MIDI pinout, I expect they do.
The 220 Ohm resistor limits the available power.

<edit>Sorry for the duplication- I answered this before I saw cgrafx's post.</edit>

My electro 5D supplies 3.3 V only - I checked this some time ago as I wanted to use bluetooth MIDI connectors. Unfortunately that didn‘t work for this reason. So I would bet they haven‘t changed this at NE6.

 To minimise scratching the paintwork of the instrument, you could add some "magnetized rubber tape" at the base.

Damn, I didn't know that existed. I'm currently using crappy rubber pads that don't scratch but also don't offer much resistance.

Those are used in "fridge magnets" and so on. ;)

Great idea, very creative for an external pitchweel. In order to do the same without even watching this video, I bought a mini controller AKAI with only In/Out USB, but it was not possible to do this communication with the Electro 6 HP.
