bought from reverb.com...
just received it. Not a beginner at all with synths and midi. beginner with the 3p....
unit makes sound with the trig button. it also makes sound when receiving midi notes.
i have not been able to verify that the pads are working. Local = on. pressing a pad does not send midi (according to my midi monitor), and i have not yet been able to get it to make sound. I've messed with the sensitivity setting.
I'm going over the same sections of the manual over and over, but i can't get a result. I would love this to be user error, but i am getting more and more pessimistic. Does anyone have some hints about what I should try?
how can i quickly verify that my 3p pads are working?

Hi Nelson,
I'm surprised it doesn't work out of the box, with local on it should work, did you try lowering the trigger threshold?
I'd say that hitting the pads with a stick or a spoon is most effective, by raising the sensitivity and lowering the threshold you should get some response from the unit..

funny how these things work.....I JUST got it to work, and was about to post here when you posted this.wartaler wrote:Hi Nelson,

Yes - I moved the threshold to 1, and now the pads are sending midi and making sound. It's good.
(i could swear that one of the first things i tried was lowering the threshold, but maybe not low enough, or maybe I confused a high one with a low one - not sure)
Thank you for your response.

Ok, great that's good to hear!
Yes it's a good idea to optimize those settings to your playing style, there is even a mode for playing with your hands,
If the threshold is too low, you might get some crosstalk between pads when hitting them with a drumstick.. It took me a while to get this right..

yeah. i figured that I'd probably adjust it from here, but the objective was just to verify that the pads were indeed working.wartaler wrote:Ok, great that's good to hear!
