Hey all,
I have a question about the sensitivity of speaker components. Forgive me if I sound like an audio noob. I just bought a Nord Electro 6 and CPS Spacestation v.3, and after playing with my phone attached through the auxillary input of the NE6, I turned down the master volume and disconnected my phone thinking the auxiliary volume was also decreased. Unfortunately, I got the dreaded popping sound from my speaker and am now paranoid that I may have damaged a component of the speaker. The CPS SS volume was about a quarter turn or less as I was playing in my thin walled apartment, and I do not hear any obvious difference in sound. However, I haven't had the speaker long enough and am not calibrated on what it should sound like. My question to you all is, how likely is it that I damaged the tweeter or another component of the speaker? Are these speakers hard wired with some degree of tolerance for these stupid mistakes? Is there a simple way to test them? Thanks for any input.

If there is no difference in sound, then you did not permanently damage anything.

Thanks for the reply. I realize I'm probably being obsessive. I'm just not calibrated on the volume of popping with respect to speaker damage.

Yes, I just confirmed all three speakers work. I also ran the audio tests at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cx1VQISKv ... =emb_title and https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PAsMlDptjx8 with no noticable muffled or distorted audio. I guess they are fine and I was over paranoid. Maybe at higher volumes this is more of an issue? This happened at a pretty low volume.

FWIW, I have been treating my CPS V.3 unkindly for many years, with zero problems. It can take an impressive level of abuse without damage.
I think I have gear issues ....

Ha! Great to hear they can handle a bit of abuse. This is what I was wondering. Thanks for sharing.
